And We're Back!!!

Hello and welcome to Serpents & Doves - the Transition Year blog of St. Columba's College. We are back for a second year, ready to inform you about all the comings and goings of the TY class of 2013. We are currently forming our blog team - a group of core TY journalists that will write maintain the blog and our Twitter account. We plan on publishing loads of posts, photos, videos, podcasts and more over the coming months so stay tuned. Coming up this week - we will have posts on the first TY HIKES, our JUNIOR CERT CELEBRATION DAY, a visit to the opening day of Science Gallery's MAGICAL MATERIALS EXHIBITION, an update on the HABITAT FOR HUMANITY  trip and info on our TEAM HOPE SHOEBOX APPEAL. International Maths Olympiad

Following an outstanding performance in his Junior Certificate Higher Level Mathematics Exam, William Wood has been invited to attend enrichment classes in UCD run by the International Mathematical Olympiad. These classes lead into Olympiad training classes where he may be selected to represent Ireland in the next IMO in July. The IMO is a prestigious annual team competition for mathematically talented second - level students. Ireland has participated in the competition since 1988, and Irish students have won medals in eight of those competitions. We wish William all the best and congratulate him on this fantastic achievement.

The New Bunch

St. Columba's College welcomed back our Transition Year students last Thursday and already they have been very busy. Over the next week they will be partaking in fundraising for the charity AWARE as well as discovering Dublin on their first team building day - which doubles as a Junior Certificate celebration. Look out for reports to come.

Serpents & Doves - A New Blog

Welcome to the new St. Columba's College Transition Year Blog - Serpents & Doves - a named inspired by the school's moto "As wise as serpents, as innocent as doves". TY is a busy time for teachers and pupils and we thought this would be the ideal platform for everyone involved in TY in St. Columba's to log their activities, show off their photos, share their experiences, display their work and express their opinions.
